Countdown To The New Year: Let's All Meet Up In The Year 2020

Countdown To The New Year: Let's All Meet Up In The Year 2020.

Hello friends.

Happy New Years Eve everyone ๐Ÿฅณ.

I am so looking forward to the year 2020. A few things happened in 2019 that I would like to forget about.

Especially my Mum had breast cancer. Thankfully it has been removed and she just has to finish her course of radiotherapy.

Countdown To The New Year: Let's All Meet Up In The Year 2020:

Any fun plans for today or tonight?

Just a four-hour shift at work for me today, then a hobble back home.

Get Fit In 2020 My New Years Resolution:

I say a hobble as I decided to start my new year goals yesterday and ran 2 and a half miles when I have not run for months and did not warm up properly!!

Today my leg has gone at the knee and hip and so stiff and painful.

Oh well, hopefully, we learn by our mistakes!!

Hopefully!!

Our Plans Of New Years Eve Night:

Have a good one tonight. I will be staying at home and watching a movie with my Daughter.

All my Sons are out and my Husband will be working ๐Ÿ˜

Countdown To The New Year: Let's All Meet Up In The Year 2020.

My Favourite New Years Eve Song:

Pulp - Disco 2000 has to be my all time favourite New Years Eve song.

I remember singing this song in 1995 and thinking what an amazing song and how far away was the year 2000!!

Now it is so far back ( if you get what I mean) but the song still holds up to this day as such an amazing song!!

Love, Love Love it!!

Dietitian Jo Travers Reveals What To Eat Over The Festive Season

Dietitian Jo Travers Reveals What To Eat Over The Festive Season To Beat Tummy Troubles, For Love Your Gut.

With an abundance of festive feasts and fizz-filled parties, the period through Christmas and New Year is when many of us indulge in larger portions and sweet and salty treats.

Dietitian Jo Travers Reveals What To Eat Over The Festive Season To Beat Tummy Troubles, For Love Your Gut

However, this can sometimes lead to stomach problems, especially for those with a sensitive gut or digestive issues.

To help beat tummy woes, dietitian Jo Travers has shared tips on what to eat over the festive season. So, follow Jo’s advice for a happy and healthy Christmas, New Year and beyond!

Ditch The Spirits:

Alcohol can affect the biodiversity of the gut microbiota, but if you do drink over the festive period, choose red wine over spirits.

Beneficial plant compounds in red wine may help to mitigate some of the problems by promoting the growth of useful bacteria.

Always drink within the recommended guidelines though!

Snack Healthily:

Nibbles are a common feature at drinks parties but try to go for unsalted nuts over crisps.

Nuts have good fats and fibre whereas crisps are pretty low on the fibre front in comparison.

The salt content of crisps can also deplete some types of beneficial bacteria in our gut.

Enjoy Fist and Palm Sized Portions:

It can be really tempting to eat large portions, it is a feast after all, but feeling bloated for half of December (and sometimes part of January!) is not fun.

Try to stick to fist-size portions of carbs and palm-size portions of proteins.

Make up the rest with veg and you will feel great all the way through and beyond the festive season.

Plant Based Over Pate:

Exchange the pate for houmous or babaganoush.

Pate is really high in saturated fat which can have a negative impact on gut microbiota.
Plant-based pรขtรฉs and spreads not only don’t contain the saturated fat, they also contain fibre which actually improves the microbiota.

One month until Christmas and so much to do.

I can't believe I've been poorly all morning on my day off from work when I have things that need doing.

Something strange happened once the kids went to school. I felt really dizzy, could not stand up without feeling really sick and I had to go to sleep.

3 hours later I still feel dizzy!!

And I still feel like I am going to pass out when I stand. So much to do this week too.

  1. Empty the garage for the builders to make it into a dining room.
  2. Another few trips to the tip.
  3. Clear all the things out the living room from the garage to put the Christmas tree up.

What are your plans for this week?

Well, my youngest two were!!

My hair was darker, my skin was smoother and I was a stone or two lighter!!

Love it.

5 Simple Healthy New Year Resolutions

5 Simple Healthy New Year Resolutions with dietitian Sian Porter.

Hello friends, today I have a guest post to share with you on how to be a little bit healthier in the new year.

Many of us will make a resolution to be healthier in some way in the new year, but with most of us short on time, it can be tricky to keep them up. To keep us on track, dietitian Sian Porter has teamed up with California Walnuts to suggest five simple new year resolutions for a happier and healthier 2020.

1.) Use Your Gut Feel:

Isn’t it good to be told to eat more of something, especially this time of year?

This is what most of us need to do with fibre.

Fibre keeps your gut healthy, fills you up and can provide fewer calories for a larger amount of food.

Swap meat for beans and lentils in curries, stews and soups, choose wholegrain varieties like brown rice and wholegrain pasta (but watch your portion size), eat plenty of vegetables and fruit including the skin and pips, choose nuts, such as walnuts and seeds as a snack or simply add them to salads, cereals, yoghurt and soups.

2.) Make Time for Friends:

Having good friends and a strong social support network can relieve stress, help look after your mental health and provide other positive health benefits, such as reducing the risk of certain disease and cognitive decline in aging.

Friendships need to be nurtured. Make meet-ups automatic with a weekly or monthly standing ‘appointment’ and block out that time in your diary.

Never leave a get-together without setting the next date.

If you’re short for time and can’t meet up, then calling your friends for just 10 minutes can give you the boost you need.

This can be when you’re walking to the shops or on your way home from work.

3.) Move More:

Doing more activity couldn’t be easier when it’s part of your daily routine. Every minute counts whether it’s cleaning, walking to school or carrying bags back from the shops.

Some simple steps to keep you active in your everyday life could include taking the stairs instead of the lift, parking in the furthest space in the car park, walking short journeys rather than taking the car, walking part of the way to school or work by parking further away, walking to a colleagues desk rather emailing, setting a reminder to get up from your desk every hour to move and stretch – the list is endless and all help's towards upping your step count!

4.) Snack Smart:

Snacking can easily be part of a healthy balanced diet if it fits in with your daily food and drinks intake.

A handful of walnuts (approx. 30g) is an ideal healthy, portable and non-messy snack.

They are also the only nut to contain a significant amount of the plant-based omega-3, alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), 2.7g/ 30g and offer 4.4g of protein and 1.4g of fibre too.

Have a handy packet of walnuts in your bag or a pot of walnuts readily available in your fridge so they are easily accessible throughout the day.

5.) Have a Heart:

Falling mortality rates from heart disease were the biggest cause of increases in life expectancy between 2001 and 2016 according to the latest available figures.

This is great news, but it is still the number one cause of mortality for males and second for females in the UK.

Your heart has to last a lifetime so give it care in 2020 by eating foods that are richer in plant-based omega3 alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and unsaturated fats.

Walnuts are a heart healthy choice, so make them a regular part of your healthy balanced diet and lifestyle by simply adding them to your favourite meals or snacking on them throughout the day.

Friends T-shirt, Pink Marks & Spencer's Skirt And A Memory. Hello friends. How was your weekend?

I love it when Facebook shares a memory to me. Here is the one I just got:

Your Memories on Facebook. Claire, we care about you and the memories you share here. We thought you'd like to look back on this post from 1 year ago. Yesterday I found out that I was a finalist in the Brilliance in Blogging Awards 2018 over at @britmums. Thank you so much to whoever voted for me. Made my weekend. I would appreciate any votes, (pretty please) I'm in the family & lifestyle category, Claire Justine.

I had been nominated for an award on my lifestyle blog Claire Justine and it has me thinking now if anyone has voted for me again this year?

I very much doubt it though as these are so many brilliant blogs out there.

But one can hope!!

Friends T-shirt, Pink Marks & Spencer's Skirt And A Memory.

Friends T-shirt, Pink Marks & Spencer's Skirt And A Memory. Ha! Well, I remember this memory well and loved these photos that I had taken with my youngest Son.

These photos were taken on a day out in Lincoln.

I still have everything I wore in this outfit too.

My Converse shoes are a little dirty now but I love this as I think it gives them the vintage twist!!

What I Wore:

Friends t-shirt: Primark
Pink Skirt: Marks & Spencer
Shoes: Converse
Bag: TK Maxx

As we all know you can always pick a bargain up in Primark. I love that they sell branded clothing now like Friends and Disney.

I picked this Marks & Spencers skirt up in the sale for £3.75 and I love it.

The quality is great and it washes lovely, again and again.

I paid full price for my Converse around £40.00 but you get years of wear from them.

I also think Converse look better with age. It gives them some vintage vibes!!

White Jumpsuit And Nearly A Trip To Bristol! OOTD

Hello friends.

The school holidays are over and time to get back to school and work for most of my children next week.

Alright for some as we had to work all Summer!!

Last week we were busy planning a few days away as my second eldest son is off to start his new job in Bristol and move to his new house today.

We were planning to take the two children down and stay at Bristol a day and then visit Bary Island.

Somewhere we have all wanted to visit as we are all huge Gavin And Stacy fans.

We were just looking at hotels and then remembered one big thing.

Our eldest son was flying off on holiday with his girlfriend that day and we had no one to look after Mollie the collie!! Grrr!!!

There is always something stopping us from travelling more.

Anyway, it got me thinking of some fun days we had last year when we went to pick our son up from his work placement and move him back yo uni for a year. Bristol is a beautiful place and we fitted seen so much in the few days we stopped there.

Here are a few snaps from last year as I can not share any from this year now :(

I picked this white jumpsuit up from Miss Selfridges last year in their Summer sale for around £10.00.

What a bargain!?

Trouble is I am a bit clumsy with my coffee and chocolate so I only get it out on special occasions.

Classic sandals from Primark were less than £5.00.

My bag was from TK MAXX it is a red leather one that my husband treated me to for my Birthday.

It was around £30.00 but a good investment plus it was at least half the retail price in there.
